I read in Matthew how Jesus rode on a donkey & its colt & I wondered how Jesus could ride on two donkeys at the same time. I asked Holy Spirit about this & He said, “Consider Heather, the animal.”
I thought two things: how the colt would want to be near its mother & how the mother donkey would want to be near its youngling & I thought that it would be necessary for the two animals to be together, to keep them both happy, calm & cooperative.
I heard the word braying.
I imagined the donkey on her own.
Without its baby, she would be worried & upset, & would do a lot of braying.
The colt also would do a lot of braying without its mother.
I still couldn’t understand how or why Jesus would ride the two donkeys at once.
I went to sleep, knowing that I would look up my Holman study Bible soon.
I also ascertained that Jesus riding on the colt was prophesied in Zechariah 9:9.
The next morning I looked in my Holman Bible notes & look what I read, confirming totally what Holy Spirit suggested to me.
(Holman notes) Matthew 21:7 . The mother donkey was led alongside her untamed colt in order to calm it. The robes of bystanders were draped across the backs of both animals, serving as makeshift decorative saddles. The words He sat on them refer to Jesus sitting atop the robes, not to His riding both animals simultaneously.
How awesome is Holy Spirit! 😃
The disciples went and did just as Jesus directed them.
They brought the donkey and the colt; then they laid their robes on them, and He sat on them.
Tell Daughter Zion,
Look, your King is coming to you,
gentle, and mounted on a donkey,
even on a colt,
the foal of a beast of burden.
Rejoice greatly, Daughter Zion!
Shout in triumph, Daughter Jerusalem!
Look, your King is coming to you;
He is righteous and victorious,
humble and riding on a donkey,
on a colt, the foal of a donkey.
Matthew 21:2-3(Jesus telling His disciples)
telling them, Go into the village ahead of you. At once you will find a donkey tied there, and a colt with her. Untie them and bring them to Me.
If anyone says anything to you, you should say that the Lord needs them, and immediately he will send them.
Look, the Lord has proclaimed
to the ends of the earth,
Say to Daughter Zion:
Look, your salvation is coming,
His reward is with Him,
and His gifts accompany Him.
And they will be called the Holy People,
the Lords Redeemed;
and you will be called Cared For,
A City Not Deserted.
See, God, will never leave us or forsake us.
Thank You Jesus.
There is so much meaning in the word foal.
g5207. υἱός huios; apparently a primary word; a “son” (sometimes of animals), used very widely of immediate, remote or figuratively, kinship: — child, foal, son. AV (382) – son(s) 85, Son of Man
There is so much to God’s Word.
I’m only skimming the top.
I’m a living stone bouncing upon His living water.
How many times can I bounce in one throw ha ha?!
Always singing never ending story.
Every day a new story.
